Camping is in expedition-grade tents with sleeping mats, separate dining and kitchen tents, and a full support crew. The cook prepares fresh meals three times daily. Campsites are in scenic locations, including beside Jimilang Tsho and at ridgeline viewpoints.

Do I need to bring my own sleeping bag for the Druk Path trek?

Yes. Personal sleeping bags are not included in this package. We recommend a bag rated to at least -10°C for the cold nights at altitude. You can bring your own or rent one in Paro before the trek begins.

Is altitude sickness a concern on the Druk Path?

Accepted Answer

The maximum altitude of 4,210 meters at Phume La Pass is high enough to require respect. Our itinerary includes gradual altitude gain and two acclimatization days in Paro before the trek starts. We carry a first-aid kit and monitor your condition daily. Discussing Diamox with your doctor before travel is recommended.

How cold does it get at night on the Druk Path campsites?

Nighttime temperatures at the higher campsites can drop to -5°C to -10°C, particularly at Jimilang Tsho and Labana. A quality sleeping bag, thermal base layers, and a warm hat are essential. Your camp crew provides hot water bottles on request.

What wildlife can I expect to see on the Druk Path?

The trail passes through forested corridors home to Himalayan wildlife, including yaks grazing in open meadows, musk deer, Himalayan monal pheasants, and occasional red panda sightings in the rhododendron zones. Bird-watching is excellent throughout the trek.
