Most of the tour involves comfortable sightseeing with moderate walking. The main physical challenge is the Tiger's Nest hike on Day 8 — a steep ascent of approximately 900 vertical meters taking three to four hours. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended for this hike, though the pace is flexible and rest stops are included. All other days involve easy-to-moderate walking at cultural sites.

Do I need a separate visa for Bhutan?

No. We process the Bhutan visa on your behalf as part of the tour booking through the Tourism Council of Bhutan. You only need to arrange your Nepal visa, which is available on arrival at Kathmandu airport.

Is there any risk of altitude sickness on this tour?

The tour stays at moderate altitudes. The highest point is the Dochula Pass at 3,100 meters, crossed by vehicle. The Tiger's Nest hike reaches an elevation of approximately 3,120 meters. These elevations are generally well below the threshold where altitude sickness becomes a concern. The Everest helicopter tour reaches a higher altitude briefly but involves no physical exertion.

Bhutan charges a daily Sustainable Development Fee for all international visitors. This fee is included in your tour cost and contributes to Bhutan's free healthcare, free Education, and environmental conservation programs. You do not need to pay this separately.

Can I skip the Tiger's Nest hike?

Yes. If you prefer not to hike, we can arrange an alternative day in Paro — visiting additional temples, exploring the town, or relaxing at the hotel with valley views. The Tiger's Nest hike is a highlight but entirely optional.

The helicopter flight departs from Kathmandu and flies to a high-altitude viewpoint in the Everest region with panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The flight includes a landing for photographs and time at altitude before returning to Kathmandu. The entire experience takes approximately three to four hours.

What should I wear for temple and monastery visits?

Dress modestly — shoulders and knees should be covered. A light scarf or shawl is useful for temple visits in both countries. Remove shoes before entering prayer halls. In Bhutan, long trousers or a long skirt are expected at dzongs and monasteries.

The Kathmandu to Paro flight takes approximately one hour and offers spectacular views of the Himalayan range, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. The approach into Paro is one of the most dramatic in the world — the plane descends through a narrow valley surrounded by forested mountains. We book economy class seats and request window seats where possible.
